Birder’s Guide To Hilton Head Island, SC and the Low Country

Our guide is intended to introduce visiting birders to the area and new residents interested in our local bird life and suggest places to best find birds.  Existing data and local knowledge are combined to enable you to bird the area effectively, according to season and individual interest.

Both Hilton Head Island and the mainland along U.S. Highway 278 contain numerous private, gated communities.  One can gain access to these neighborhoods only by invitation of a property owner.  Limitations to access will be noted where they exist.
