Workday at Audubon Newhall Preserve
Here’s your October Newhall Work Day Update!
A “Faithful Few” joined your Fearless Leader for the October Work Day at the Audubon Newhall Preserve. Shown here are (from left to right) John Grobe, Karen Lucey, Kathy Shea-Kettel, and Julia and David Buzzard. (The camera-shy photographer was your Fearless Leader, Bob Clemens.)
Karen and Kathy used our electric blowers to clean the Pocosin Boardwalk, the pond deck, the memorial benches, and the Newhall Pond trail. Kathy puttered in the pollinator gardens, culling the overgrown vegetation.
Julia and David painted our newly installed fence screening the storage area. (We are including a photo from the first phase of installation with appreciation to Matt Mattoon, Jack Coleman, and Sal Gioia! We also note that the fence was a suggestion from Karen Lucey!)
Finally, John and Bob cut and culled encroaching vegetation on the woods trails, and hauled a truckload of limbs from the Pond Trail. “Have chainsaw. Will travel”
Karen also took candid photos and she crabs if we don’t include them so here they are!
Our next Second Saturday Work Day will be on November 8th. As usual, we will meet at 8:30 AM in the parking lot and send everyone home by 10 AM. RSVPs are not required, but are helpful to: rclemens318@gmail.com.
May the Forest be with you!
